A dead tree comes to life in spring.
It's that time of year again for the annual review, looking back on what I've done this year. I usually start the review in the last month, setting aside enough time for thoughtful reflection and review. If the time is short, it will feel rushed. There's no specific theme, just writing as I go, talking about the feelings of this year.
These days, there was news that the nucleic acid test and itinerary card have been completely canceled, and the health code is no longer needed, as it has lost its meaning. Not evaluating this matter, just expressing my feelings, this year I can finally go home for the Chinese New Year. In the past three years, I only went back to my hometown during holidays like May Day and National Day. Every time the Spring Festival came, the trip home was canceled for various reasons, which was somewhat regrettable. Celebrating the New Year in the city lacks a bit of that festive atmosphere. My Spring Festival holiday is about 15 days, which is quite ample time. I can plan my itinerary well, hang out with friends for a couple of days, and take personal protective measures.
I have open-sourced some of the small tools and themes I've written, including some Greasemonkey plugins, program themes, browser extensions, etc. There are one or two dozen users, although few, the reviews are good, which gives me great encouragement.
I am willing to contribute to open source projects. Sometimes I receive emails about open-source projects, and I will discuss and solve problems with the other party. This not only helps others but also gives me a deeper understanding. The sea of learning is boundless.
I feel a slight improvement in my work. I was assigned to be solely responsible for a project, expanding my technical stack, using some technologies I hadn't encountered before. Searching and reading documents while coding, improving myself based on business needs seems more interesting than just reading code. However, this kind of improvement is somewhat superficial, not deep enough to touch the core. I have to admit that this is my weakness, and I need to rethink my path. But compared to the confused state of last year, this period is still fulfilling. I have also made some friends in the industry, and on rest days, we chat over meals and go to West Lake to see lotus flowers.
I use Siyuan as my note-taking software, persistently writing a diary every day, which is actually just some trivial matters of life and emotions. Persistently recording them, occasionally flipping through to see what silly things I've done in the past, is also a kind of fun. To show support, I subscribed to the annual membership. This is indeed an excellent note-taking software, and the developers are constantly optimizing the experience. The only regret is the inability to sync configuration files. I asked the author, and it's due to compatibility issues with different device systems, so perfect synchronization is currently not possible, but it's still great.
This year's snow came unusually early, in November, and this summer in Hangzhou was also unusually hot, reaching over 40 degrees, which is very unusual. Not being a meteorological expert, I can't analyze this phenomenon, I can only express my feelings. Every year is 365 days, the same amount of time, but living different versions of ourselves, alone, only caring about our own family.
